"South America: Observations and Impressions with Maps" by James Bryce, published in New York by the Macmillan Company in 1916. This volume presents Bryce’s observations and impressions of South America, with three maps bound at the rear and advertisements for other books by the author.

Octavo (5.75" x 8.5"), handsomely bound in full dark blue calf with gilt top edge, blue marble endpapers, and a Milton Academy crest stamped on the upper cover. The spine features five raised bands, five compartments, and two gilt-lettered panels for the title and author. There is rubbing along the bands and bottom edge, with slightly bumped corners. A presentation bookplate on the pastedown records the book as "Given in memory of Caroline Lesley Field to Henry Hardwick Faxon for attainment and promise in scientific studies at Milton Academy on June 16, 1917." A notable early-20th-century volume combining South American observations with contemporary maps and an interesting academic provenance.
