Traité des Maladies Vénériennes by M. Fabre, Fourth Edition, revised, corrected, and enlarged by the author. Published in Paris by P. Fr. Didot in 1795, this French-language medical work provides an extensive 18th-century treatment of venereal diseases, with an analytical table summarizing the contents of each chapter.

12mo. (4.5" x 7.25"). xvi + 576 pp. Bound in full brown mottled calf with five gilt-decorated raised bands, gilt lettering to the second compartment, and floral gilt devices with decorative rule frames. All edges reddened.

The book bears Tufts Medical Library stamps to the top and fore-edge of the text block, along with several bookplates on the front pastedown, including a later bookplate from Tufts College Medical Dental School Library.

Condition: Edgewear with bumped and rubbed corners and loss to the tips. Head and foot of spine chipped with loss, with remnants of a shelf label at the foot. Both joints are split with some loss; boards remain held by cords. Extremities are rubbed and scuffed, with small areas of leather loss to both boards. A fascinating example of late 18th-century French medical literature with institutional medical-library provenance.
