8vo.(5.25" x 8.375") 1854. Gilfillan, Rev. George. Edinburgh: James Nichol. Full brown polished calf with ornate blindstamp design comprising ruled frames and open Gothic design centered to both boards. Spine with five blindstamp raised bands, gilt authors to second compartment, gilt grape leaf device centered to each other. All edges reddened, marbled endpapers. Edgewear to extremities including joints, rubbing especially along head of boards. Corners bumped and rubbed, with tiny loss. Spine a bit darker due to sun-fade (see pic), resulting in mild craquelure. Prior authors signatures, inscription to first free flyleaf. Still a beautiful book. (and in your hand, a solid book)
