Johann Jakob Wagner (1775–1841) was a German philosopher associated with the post-Kantian and Idealist traditions. A professor at the University of Würzburg, Wagner developed a highly systematic philosophical framework seeking to unite metaphysics, logic, nature, humanity, language, and aesthetics into a comprehensive understanding of reality. His work stands at the intersection of German Idealism, Romantic philosophy, and nineteenth-century speculative thought.
These writings were published after Wagner's death from his lectures and unpublished manuscripts by Dr. Philipp Ludwig Adam. The present volume represents an unusually complete gathering of Wagner's mature philosophical system, encompassing his views on ontology, epistemology, natural science, anthropology, language, and aesthetics.
Bound as a single volume, likely by a contemporary owner shortly after publication. Contemporary ownership inscription to the title page ("Hans Heusig"). A substantial collection of posthumous writings by an important but today relatively overlooked figure in German Idealist philosophy.
