Spine with five raised bands, gilt title to second compartment, gilt author to fourth, gilt year at foot. Top edge gilt, map pictorial endpapers. Association Copy signed "To Jane and Charlie / Englehart / Appreciatively / Alan Moorehead / Porto Ercole / Italy / February 1961." to half title page (see pic). Tipped in letter reads: "February 7 / Dear Jane; How very nice to / hear from you and I'm / delighted you liked the book./ I'm just back from roaming / around the Sudan & Ethiopia / and will take it [eexise?] if / you pass through Italy without / seeing us. Do come soon. You / must be delighted about / Kennedy. Thought you both / made a fine showing in / the picture [this?] time. / My love to you / Alan" (see pic) Small stain to rear cover, otherwise a Fine book. Illustrated with 10 maps and 33 photos.

From Wiki: Alan McCrae Moorehead, AO, OBE (22 July 1910 – 29 September 1983) was a war correspondent and author of popular histories, most notably two books on the nineteenth-century exploration of the Nile, The White Nile (1960) and The Blue Nile (1962). Australian-born, he lived in England, and Italy, from 1937.
