"Ernesto Invernizzi General Catalogue," Eighth Edition, published circa 1940 in Rome by Società Anonima Ernesto Invernizzi. This extensively illustrated Italian-language catalogue documents a wide range of professional medical and scientific equipment, including surgical instruments, orthopedic appliances, glassware, hygiene and bacteriology equipment, medical furniture, and hospital furnishings. The company lists among its customers royal household and government ministries, royal clinics, the Italian Red Cross, the Knights of Malta, hospitals, laboratories, and other institutions.

Quarto (8" x 11"). xxxix, 413 pages. Bound in tan cloth with small corners over red-lettered boards; the rear board is unlettered. The original dust jacket, if issued, is not present. The red spine lettering is faded, and the sun-faded spine has tape repairs to both joints, along with an older, mostly closed tear. The head and foot of the spine are also tape-repaired. The printed endpapers are beginning to separate from the spine but remain attached. There is general edgewear, lightly bumped and rubbed corners, and light fading to the boards and page margins. An engraved AGNM Library bookplate appears on the front pastedown. The catalogue features an index followed by thousands of illustrated entries, using both drawings and photographs.

An intriguing historical trade catalogue for collectors of antique medical instruments, Italian commercial printing, and the history of surgery and healthcare.
