"Curiosities of Great Britain: England & Wales Delineated, Historical, Entertaining & Commercial, Alphabetically Arranged" by Thomas Dugdale, Antiquarian, published in London by J. Tallis, circa 1850. This work offers an alphabetically arranged survey of England and Wales, bringing together historical, entertaining, and commercial information about the places and features of Great Britain.
The volumes are 4to (approximately 6" x 9.125") and are part of a larger set, with these examples identified as 2 of 11. They have modern dark brown cloth spines with brown stiff paper covers featuring blindstamped decoration, yellow endpapers, gilt titles on the spines, and gilt floral designs on the covers.
The covers show bumped corners and fading to both front and rear boards. There is slight foxing throughout the pages of the first half of both volumes. An interesting 19th-century reference work for those interested in British history, antiquities, towns, commerce, landmarks, and local history.
